CAMPING TERMS AND CONDITIONS
CAMPING AREAS
- An area will be designated for camping (the camping area)
- Vehicles will be directed to allotted plots in the camping area by marshals. Moving your vehicle from its allocated position, except to exit the site may cause danger to others or and is not allowed.
- Club camping pitches are the responsibility of the Club Organiser / representative and we will initially report any transgressions to the representative should any occur.
- Please ensure that you erect tents and awnings a safe distance from other vehicles and sources of combustion such as barbecues. Please be careful of tripping over guy lines.
- Please don’t park your vehicle or erect tents and awnings in the fire lanes or access roads at any time.
- No trade stands are permitted in the camping areas.
- Please switch off all sound systems in the camping areas before 2300hrs. If a marshal or security asks you to turn off your music please comply immediately.
- Portable generators are allowed in the camping area between 9am and 9pm. Please be considerate to others, abide by the time restrictions and do not allow exhaust fumes to become a danger in confined spaces.
- Club campers will be made aware of all other campers within their pitch along. Details include party booking name and campers name.
- You are advised to ensure that you have a suitable fire extinguisher in your vehicle / tent.
- Fireworks, Chinese Lanterns,potential weapons, bird scarers, flares & portable laser equipment, including laser pens, or any illegal or offensive items are not permitted on site. This also extends down to BB guns or any air powered devices. Individuals found in possession of such items will be expelled from the site and the Police will be informed where knives or firearms are concerned.
- The site must be clear by 11 am on Monday to allow the organisers to clean up and hand back the site to the owners. Please help us by ensuring that your rubbish sacks have been placed in a bin or skip before you leave.
GENERAL
- Persons bringing their own alcoholic drinks may consume these on site BUT glass is not permitted in the main marquee.
- This is a family event and unacceptable behaviour as a result of excessive consumption of alcohol will result in expulsion from site.
- Please use the Skips and waste bins provided.
- No Kites or Drones/UAV’s are allowed to be flown on site, due to the suspended electrical systems.
- Please contact the organisers or marshals during the event in the case of an emergency or dial 999. Organisers and marshals will be wearing CREW T shirts and/or CREW Hi vis vests.
- The showground is basically agricultural land and has uneven surfaces, walk carefully and expect a few depressions. Around the camping, trade, and marquee areas there are many guy lines to tents, stalls and the marquees. Please be aware of this and watch your footing and be mindful of these trip hazards.
- Please use the toilets and urinals and do not pollute the streams and hedges.
BBQ’S, BONFIRES, FIREPITS AND EXTINGUISHERS
- BBQs can be used in the camping area, but they are only permitted if raised off the ground and 3m from vehicles. Please ensure that ALL sources of combustion are properly extinguished and are not left unattended at any time. Do not keep cans of diesel or petrol near to a barbecue.
- No open bonfires or fire pits are permitted.
SITE SPEED LIMIT
- This will be 10mph at all times
- Anyone who refuses to comply will be asked to leave the site.
ANIMALS
- Dogs are to be kept on leads at all times and owners must ensure they clean up after them.
- Owners are also be reminded that it is their responsibility to ensure their animal is kept safe.
- Dogs are not permitted in the entertainment marquee after 18:00hrs.
WATER POINTS
- Drinking water is available on site, the taps are located around the camping areas. The taps are sign posted.
RUBBISH
- Please ensure you use the rubbish bags provided to you on entry to the Jamboree. Skips and bins are placed around, please use them.
FIRE SAFETY
- Fire extinguishers are located around the showground including extinguishers in the public marquee, outside the main toilet block and outside the Jamboree headquarters. ANYONE FOUND TAMPERING OR MISUSING THE FIRE EXTINGUISHERS WILL BE EXPELLED FROM SITE.
FRESH MILK AND BREAD
- The local milkman drops in over the weekend, He has no set times so look out for him or listen for announcements over the site PA system.
GAS SAFETY REMINDERS
- The majority of us carry some form of LPG, whether its used to boil the kettle, fuel the BBQ or keep us warm during the cool evenings. Here are a few pointers in the safe use of LPG.
WHAT HAPPENS INSIDE THE CYLINDER
- Gas cylinders are specifically manufactured to store Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG for short) in its liquid state. The liquid turns to gas very easily and the gas fills the space above the liquid. As gas is drawn off in use, more liquid turns to gas to replace it. An external regulator connected to the supply line between the cylinder and appliance keeps the pressure of the gas constant to the appliance as the cylinder empties until there is no liquid left to turn to gas.
THE REGULATOR
- Except for appliances fitted with a flow controller, a suitably rated regulator must be included in the connection between the cylinder and the appliance. The regulator is precisely set to control the pressure of the supply and Must Not Be Adjusted. Replace any regulator, which is not working properly, or after 10 years of life.
FLEXIBLE HOSES
- Use only marked and certified hoses to BS3212 and which bear the year and name of the manufacturer and clips as LPG attacks and erodes natural rubber. Keep hose lengths as short as possible and less than 2 meters in length. All flexible hoses must be secured with proper hose clips. Make sure that the hoses are kept clear of ‘hot spots’ and inspect them from time to time. Replace any hose that shows signs of wear or damage.
LPG DO’S AND DON’TS
- Do treat a cylinder with care to ensure that the valve is not damaged. A damaged valve could result in a leak.
- Do use a cylinder upright. Horizontally, liquid gas could get into the supply pipes with serious results.
- Don’t attempt to disconnect a regulator from a switch-on valve (15kg and 7kg cylinders) if the flame does not go out when the regulator switch is turned off. Leave the appliance alight and call your Gas Supplier.
- Don’t subject a cylinder to heat, because the pressure inside the cylinder could build up to a point beyond the designedsafety limit.
- Don’t store or use cylinders below ground level, because LPG is heavier than air. If there is a leak, the gas will collect at low level and become dangerous in the presence of flame or a spark.
- Don’t store or use propane cylinders (red) indoors, because propane is contained under higher pressure and should only be kept outdoors.
CARBON MONOXIDE THE FACTS
- When gas does not burn properly, poisonous carbon monoxide fumes may be produced.
- You cannot see or smell carbon monoxide fumes. They are invisible, odourless, colourless and tasteless.
- Fumes from partially burnt gas kill more people than fires and explosions from unburnt gas.
- Faulty gas appliances, poor ventilation and incorrect flues may produce carbon monoxide.
- The danger signs on gas appliances are stains, deposits of soot and excessively yellow or orange flames.
- Carbon monoxide can cause drowsiness, dizziness, headaches, watering eyes, chest pains or palpitations, sickness, stomach pains or diarrhoea. Unfortunately, these are vague symptoms produced by many other causes such as influenza and food poisoning.
- You should seek medical advice if you persistently suffer from any of the symptoms listed above after being in an area where any gas burning appliance is in use, and of course have your gas installation checked by a competent installer.
- Remember, gas appliances which are designed, installed and used correctly, regularly serviced, and properly ventilated and flued are completely safe.
- Consider the installation of a suitably certified carbon monoxide detector.
